The flexibility of the SPEA Connect program gives me the opportunity to handle a busy professional schedule.
Why did you choose the SPEA Connect MPA program?
The SPEA Connect MPA program offers me the opportunity to get my graduate degree while still having a very busy professional and personal life. The program is highly regarded in the Public Affairs arena and offers great instruction. The Veteran Services Office was also extremely helpful in getting all of the required VA benefits coordinated. The experiential credit and constructive credit for attending Command and General Staff College is great!
How has the flexibility of the online program helped you to balance all of your responsibilities?
The flexibility of the SPEA Connect program gives me the opportunity to handle a busy professional schedule, spend time with family, and set my own agenda for completing course work on my time. Having asynchronous instruction allows me to be six time zones away and still be able to actively participate.
What are your main academic/policy areas of interest and what led you to those interests?
I am focusing on Nonprofit Management. I was intrigued by that particular program due to the interest I have in supporting several nonprofits and my potential for utilizing my military experience in the nonprofit sector when I retire from the Army.
Is there anything else you would like prospective students to know about you or your experience in the program?
SPEA Connect provides professionals an incredible opportunity to enhance their education goals while utilizing their professional experiences to enrich the learning environment. The depth and breadth of experiences your SPEA Connect classmates bring to the discussion add an incredible additional dimension to understanding the Public Affairs space. Instructors are knowledgeable, available, and experts in their fields. I can very easily see how an MPA from SPEA Connect will serve me well in my future endeavors!
